Statement by Congressman Kim on Legislative Hearing on the SAVE Act

WASHINGTON, DC – The following is a statement from Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) on today's legislative hearing in the House Energy and Commerce Committee on the SAVE Act.

"When I listen to my neighbors back home in New Jersey, the rising cost of health care continues to be the number one issue on their minds. I want to thank Chairman Pallone and the Energy and Commerce Committee for taking up the SAVE Act in a hearing within a week of it being introduced. I look forward to seeing this important legislation brought to the floor for a full vote, and will continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for pragmatic solutions that expand access and lower the cost of health care."

The SAVE Act, a bipartisan bill introduced by Congressman Kim and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), would incentivize states to adopt state-based health insurance marketplaces, which have been shown to have additional options and lower costs when compared to the federally-facilitated exchange. New Jersey is one of a number of states that have not established state-based marketplaces for residents.
