Congressman Kim Statement in Support of
Denis McDonough for Secretary of Veterans Affairs

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) released the following statement in support of Denis McDonough, who has been named by President-elect Biden as his nominee for Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

"No one works harder than Denis McDonough and I am grateful that he will take on the vital mission of delivering the care and support that our veterans deserve. We've seen in our district what happens when the VA doesn't deliver for our veterans. Having worked alongside Denis before at the White House, I know he will serve our veterans with honor and work tirelessly to get results on complex and critical issues. I look forward to seeing him approved by the Senate and to working alongside him to be a vocal advocate for America's veterans."

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee where he serves as the vice chair of the Subcommittee on Readiness. The Congressman is also a co-chair of the House Democratic National Security Task Force. Prior to serving in the House, Congressman Kim worked as a career public servant under both Democrats and Republicans. He served at USAID, the Pentagon, the State Department, the White House National Security Council, and in Afghanistan as an advisor to Generals Petraeus and Allen.
