Congressman Kim Statement in Support of
Congresswoman Deb Haaland for Secretary of Interior

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) released the following statement in support of Congresswoman Deb Haaland, who, according to reports, has been named by President-elect Biden as his nominee for Secretary of Interior.

"Congresswoman Haaland's nomination is not only historic, as the first Native American to serve as Interior Secretary, it is critical to protecting our public lands and combatting climate change. I've been proud to serve with Congresswoman Haaland and partner with her on the Armed Services Committee over the past two years. She is a strong leader who will bring a vision to the Department of Interior that can truly make our country proud. I look forward to seeing her swiftly confirmed by the Senate and to work side-by-side with her in the coming years."

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Small Business Committee and the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis. Prior to serving in the House, Congressman Kim worked as a career public servant under both Democrats and Republicans. He served at USAID, the Pentagon, the State Department, the White House National Security Council, and in Afghanistan as an advisor to Generals Petraeus and Allen.
