Congressman Kim Highlights Progress, Calls for Vigilance During Visit to Ocean County Testing and Tracing Center

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, in a visit to the Ocean County Health Department’s COVID-19 testing site, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) called for continued efforts to improve and expand testing and contact tracing amid progress in containing the Coronavirus crisis in New Jersey.

“The members of the Ocean County Health Department, and the men and women who have conducted testing and contact tracing have done incredible work,” said Congressman Kim, who continued, “Now we have to make sure they continue to have the resources needed to do their jobs keeping our communities safe. I’ll keep working with my colleagues in Congress, and our local leaders to make sure New Jersey can continue the great progress we’ve made in the past months.”

“Thank you to Congressman Kim for visiting today to learn about our county health department’s response, and for his support of our efforts,” said Daniel Regenye, Ocean County Health Department’s Public Health Coordinator. “I want to stress how critical contact tracing is now. Providing information when you get a call will help us understand disease exposure and mitigate spread. This is truly a team effort and the public plays a key role moving forward.”

Since the beginning of the Coronavirus crisis, Congressman Kim has been a vocal advocate for increased federal involvement in improving testing and contact tracing efforts in New Jersey. The Congressman led a bipartisan effort to push the Federal Emergency Management Agency to open a third federally backed testing site in New Jersey, which was denied by the White House. The Congressman has continuously reiterated his calls for federal leadership on testing, including in an op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
