Congressman Kim Named as a Conferee to Defense Bill Conference Committee

September 18, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Andy Kim (NJ-03) was named as a conferee to the bicameral conference committee on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020. Kim is one of three Democratic freshmen named by House leadership to this position.

"I'm proud to be a voice for New Jersey and the men and women serving at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on this critical committee," said Congressman Kim. "We were able to deliver some important wins through the House that will make our communities safer by ending the use of PFAS and make our communities more prosperous by adding jobs and investment for military families. I look forward to fighting for those wins and getting them to the President's desk for his signature."

Congressman Kim led an effort during the NDAA markup in the House Armed Services Committee to secure funding for new jobs in New Jersey, strengthen resiliency programs at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, strengthen economic opportunities for military spouses, and require the Department of Defense to the end use of harmful PFAS chemicals.

Congressman Kim is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, where he serves the Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Readiness and as a Member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
